Loved the variety of plants! The plants are healthy and plentiful. I love that they have descriptions about each plant whether they a deer resistant, pollinators, full sun or partial and that they all are native to this area! I will be at the next one. So sorry the storm prevented it from opening today.
To "graduate" from the Anacostia Watershed Society's stewardship academy I'm completing a capstone project in Washington, D.C. that involves removing invasive plants and healing a fragmented forest. The robust plant stock at Chesapeake Natives is just that Rx. The pictured Viburnum nudum was the first of an array I purchased in Rosaryville to go in the ground. It's thriving...despite the summer's beastly heat. Yay for native plants!

Great place to buy and learn about native plants. It could be easy to miss from Rosaryville Road; you enter the gate to the Mount Airy mansion and drive down the path for a bit until you reach the parking lot. They have plenty of boxes and wagons to help you carry plants. Everything is neatly organized with signs telling you the name, growing conditions, and what kinds of wildlife (birds, bees, butterflies) it attracts. The same info is posted on their website in an extensive list of plants - very helpful to check it out before going to see what they have available at the time. Volunteers are available to answer questions and help you find what you're looking for. Lovely little nursery - you can see for yourself the many pollinators that come to forage on the flowers! Definitely recommend checking it out!!
Awesome group, staff, and native plant nursery! Helpful and knowledgeable people can guide you to the right native Maryland plants for a variety of environments. I've purchased several to propagate on my property and they are generally very robust and oh so cool to see. I've purchased online for pickup and visited during open houses and always find something awesome to plant in my garden and can recommend both ways of shopping. The local plants help support native insects and support biodiversity and if they spread around, all the better!
