Michelle Gorman and Native are amazing! As I'm sure many of y'all in Texas will understand, we have a lot of shifting clay soils and our yards are no exception. We bought a house that has exhibited no willingness to grow grass and I was apprehensive to try but I found a source that has convinced me otherwise. I peppered Michelle with email after email and a few phone calls about what grass seeds could work for our fully shaded front yard and fully exposed back yard, and she walked me through selections as well as how to prep the yard over the "winter" with compost topdressing and cereal rye applications. I really got to understand the subgrade issues and potential solutions thanks to her, and what I spent to follow her advice is a very reasonable cost - accessibity to the knowledge base now has me feeling armed and ready to finally to go after a lawn solution that won't cost me in water bills while utilizing native Texas vegetation. VERY happy with Michelle's wisdom, patience, and guidance through the process, and will come back for more of their local Texas focus! Thanks, y'all.
For 40 years this company has helped me choose seed that is perfect for my needs.
It is a great place to visit. From the entrance you can feel like they care for animals and environment.
We stayed at the “Cool River Cabin” at the Native American Seed Farm for a few days over spring break and it was perfect for my family. You are able to explore the farm’s 300 acres, which includes wildflower crops, mowed trails through non farmland, and access to the llano river. They even have canoes and kayaks available to use in the Llano River, which was a lot of fun. The cabin has everything you need and was clean and comfortable. The two porches are the highlight of the cabin, along with the birds and butterflies that visited the yard. The hostess and her family live fairly close on the farm and were super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning for another relaxing visit.
We have been buying seeds for a couple years now and I could not be more happy with the germination rate and variety of available flowers. Our prairies have been transformed into waves of colors. We get such a thrill when we discover new varieties starting to bloom. We will be placing another big order for the Fall.
