When we ran across Sarah's booth at the Verona Farmer's Market we were captivated by her passion for restoring native habitats for pollinators. She is one of those rare individuals who decided she'd make a difference. She quit her corporate job, moved to the country and started a nursery. And with her help, we can all make a difference in making the world a better place for all living things. If everyone one of us planted just a few of her well loved plants, that love would compound many times over. Yeah, Sarah is awesome. Inspiring.

I commissioned a pollinator island design from Sarah and bought many of my plants from her. Extraordinarily pleased with how it has turned out and how resilient the native plants are. The increase in diversity of insects and birds in my lawn is noticeable after just one year.

For a small fee, Sarah came to our home for over an hour, walked around our front and back yards, she listened carefully, was thoughtful in asking questions and made several suggestions that were appropriate for our yard "ecology" and individual personal preferences. We were impressed with Sarah's depth of knowledge of native plants, the way she was able to explain things and answer a lot of specific questions we had. It was an extremely valuable hour. She also provided us with a hard copy of our property with the recommendations of the specific native plants she recommended. That was amazingly helpful to be able to see and be able to make continued reference to her multiple suggestions all in clear picture form. Sarah has a great depth of knowledge about the important role native plants play supporting birds, bees, butterflies and how they create a healthy ecology as a whole. She was prompt, professional and personable. Sarah is a valuable consultant and I would recommend her to anyone interested in native plants and/or increasing their knowledge base about them.

Sarah from Tend Native Plants has been helping us convert our yard back to native species for several years, and we recommend her services (and plants) highly! She has toured our property several times and has given excellent advice not only on which native species to plant in specific areas, but also on multiple ways to eradicate invasive species. We prefer the slower approach that avoids chemical herbicides for various reasons, and Sarah has generously shared info she has garnered through reading and other native plant groups. We have focused on different areas in the yard each year. As we discover which species flourish, Sarah has guided us with really helpful suggestions on which areas to work on next and which species to add to our "collection". Our goals are diversity to support many species of living creatures, different plants to provide season-long flowers to support pollinators, and seeds to support birds and animals during the winter and early spring -- and to encourage the native plants to spread on their own. When it comes to starter plants, we have been delighted with both the variety and quality of plants available from Tend Native Plants. The helpful notes on her website remind us about which plants will likely thrive in our landscape -- and equally important -- which ones will benefit from protection from rabbits and deer. We look forward to our continuing collaboration with Sarah!

Tend’s beautiful native plants and tailored guidance will set you up for gardening success! Sarah is so knowledgeable and willing to answer questions about which plants would work best in a certain space. This summer I planted a pollinator garden using a wide selection of Tend plants. These plants are all so healthy and many have even bloomed this first growing season! I’m already looking forward to placing my next order and taking the lovely, scenic drive out to their greenhouse in Blue Mounds.
