This place is amazing. The variety of native plants are my favorite, especially the berries. He shares with you an abundance of plant knowledge and I always leave with just what I need to confidently tackle my projects and I’m always pleased with the plants themselves. Tom has absolutely wonderful customer service skills. Plus, it’s just a pleasure chatting with him.

Wild Juniper Nursery and owner, Tom Jessmore, are an incredible resource for growing native plants in Leelanau County. Tom and staff are friendly and knowledgeable--starting many of their plants from seed. Wild Juniper Nursery is also active in the community (meeting with garden clubs and supporting efforts of area growers and conservation organizations). My wife and I are hosting a wedding in late June ‘25. We scheduled a significant landscape change of our front yard for late ‘24 but got pushed to this spring. Tom worked with us on plant selection, layout and had a young man named Devon do all the planting. Our experience with Tom and Terri was amazing! They delivered against a very tough timeline and it’s fantastic! We highly recommend Wild Junioer nursery and their wonderful owners!!

At a time when I was feeling my saddest, I experienced the most empathetic and genuinely kind experience at this nursery. I stopped by the nursery because my beloved dog passed away and I wanted to plant a tree in his honor. What I didn’t expect was to get the most compassionate and honest costumer service that I have ever experienced. I went in with an idea in my head but really needed some help picking the right one that would do the best. I just knew I wanted something that would stand out and last for a long time. The owner came to help me right away and asked me what I was looking for and when I told him why I was getting the tree he immediately stopped and offered me his condolences, his understanding, and more kindness than I could have expected. *He offered me a flower and I began to cry, he told me that I could just walk behind him as we looked so that I could cry and still feel comfortable- that’s beyond customer service, that is a truly kind soul. * We took our time looking at the options and he gave me honest recommendations. Finally we found the perfect one- a white pine tree that was not even a fraction of the cost of the one I had originally thought I wanted. He could have easily just sold me on the expensive one I had in mind originally but he didn’t. He cared more about me, the tree, and my experience than he did about making the sale. I wish I could express how much that experience means to me. It gave me so much comfort and I left feeling so grateful for the warmness they shared so generously with me, a stranger, and left with one of the first smiles I had in days. I met the other owner briefly as I checked out and felt the love just pouring from her too. I couldn’t recommend them more. The experience you get from a local owned business is unmatched in its humanity. I promise, you will never want to buy from anywhere else again. Lastly, I want to say thank you to the owners who took time out of their day to lift up a stranger who had no idea how much she needed it. I appreciate you with all my heart. Thank you.

I've built two high tunnel greenhouses for Wild Juniper, and it's clear that they take a great deal of care in serving their customers and caring for their plants. I highly recommend them to anyone on Leelanau or in the greater Traverse City area who is looking for high quality plants.
