About

Audubon California is a leading conservation organization dedicated to protecting birds and the habitats they depend on throughout California and the Western Hemisphere. With over a century of conservation work, Audubon California has successfully protected 600 species of birds across diverse ecosystems—from the West Coast's largest estuary in San Francisco Bay to the wetlands of the Central Valley and the Salton Sea. The organization operates three major centers and sanctuaries across California while mobilizing 118,000 members and 48 local chapters to advance grassroots conservation efforts. Through habitat restoration, climate solutions, and science-based advocacy, Audubon California addresses the interconnected threats of climate change and biodiversity loss. The organization invites community members to get involved through citizen science programs, native plant searches, habitat protection initiatives, and local chapter participation, ensuring that both birds and people benefit from healthy, restored ecosystems.
