Master Gardener Program

About

The Illinois Master Gardener Program, operated through Illinois Extension at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, empowers trained volunteer gardeners to transform their local communities through sustainable gardening practices. Master Gardeners dedicate their time and expertise to grow food, support pollinators, and sustain resilient home gardens while sharing horticultural knowledge with fellow Illinois residents. With a 50-year history of community engagement, the program offers comprehensive training, continuing education, and volunteer opportunities across multiple counties throughout Illinois. By connecting passionate gardeners with Extension educators and resources, Illinois Master Gardeners foster environmental stewardship, promote native plant conservation, and help create more beautiful and ecologically healthy communities.
