About

The Kentucky Native Plant Society is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting education, preservation, and protection of Kentucky's native plants and natural communities. Founded in 1986, KNPS serves members throughout Kentucky and neighboring states through a comprehensive range of conservation and educational initiatives. The organization conducts field trips across the Commonwealth, offers workshops and symposiums on native plant identification and studies, and manages grants for student research and native plant pollinator gardens. Through activities including rare species propagation, invasive species removal, and habitat restoration projects, KNPS actively works to preserve Kentucky's unique ecosystems and botanical heritage. The society relies entirely on volunteers and member contributions to accomplish its mission, making community involvement central to its conservation efforts.
