About
The Louisiana Native Plant Society is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation, conservation, and study of Louisiana's diverse native flora. Since 1983, LNPS has championed the protection of native plants in their natural habitats while promoting public education about the ecological and utilitarian values of native species. Through certification programs, habitat initiatives, and community resources, the organization empowers property owners, professionals, and plant enthusiasts to make informed decisions about native plant cultivation and invasive species management. The Louisiana Certified Habitat Program encourages landowners to enhance the ecological value of their properties for wildlife and natural systems, while the Louisiana Native Professional Certification Program trains practitioners in native plant expertise. LNPS provides comprehensive educational resources, maintains lists of native plant alternatives to invasive species, and facilitates networking among Louisiana native plant organizations and certified professionals.
