About

Maine Coast Heritage Trust is a conservation organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the ecological integrity of Maine's coastal landscapes. With 192,500 acres conserved in partnership with other organizations and 339 coastal islands protected, MCHT works to keep the Maine coast open, healthy, working, and beautiful for future generations. The organization focuses on critical initiatives including marsh restoration to support coastal resilience against climate change, forest conservation that allows natural ecosystems to adapt to changing conditions, and habitat protection for diverse coastal species. Through their network of 165 public preserves offering 106 miles of trails, MCHT provides direct public access to coastal lands while advancing climate resilience and supporting Maine's working landscapes including farms and forests. Community members can support this mission through monthly donations, volunteer work with programs like the Ancestral Lands Trail Crew, or by participating in field trips and educational events.
