About

The Rhode Island Wild Plant Society is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) conservation organization dedicated to preserving and protecting Rhode Island's native plants and their natural habitats. Through its comprehensive programs including botanizing walks, native plant sales, seed collection initiatives, and ecological gardening education, the organization engages community members of all botanical skill levels in appreciating, studying, and stewarding the region's flora. The society's ReSeeding RI initiative advances native plant conservation by increasing the availability of locally-sourced, ecotypic seeds and plants from wild Rhode Island populations, promoting ethical and sustainable practices throughout the plant supply chain. By offering grants, hosting educational workshops, and facilitating volunteer opportunities, RIWPS empowers Rhode Islanders to create biodiverse landscapes and contribute meaningfully to the protection of New England's native plant communities.
