About

Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve Trust protects and interprets one of North America's most critically endangered ecosystems. Located in Strong City, Kansas, the preserve manages nearly 11,000 acres of intact tallgrass prairie—representing less than 4% of the original 170 million acres that once covered the continent. Established in 1996, the preserve serves as the last significant stronghold of this vital native plant community in the Flint Hills region. Through educational programs, guided tours, and immersive experiences, the organization connects visitors with the ecological importance of tallgrass prairie conservation and the diverse flora and fauna that depend on this unique habitat. The preserve offers year-round activities including hiking trails, historic building tours, virtual experiences, and junior ranger programs that inspire stewardship of native grasslands.
