Master Gardener Program

About

The Texas Master Gardener Program, operating under Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service since 1978, is a volunteer-driven initiative that empowers Texans to become knowledgeable gardeners and stewards of native plants. Through comprehensive training and ongoing education, Master Gardeners develop expertise in horticulture, sustainable gardening practices, and native plant cultivation to support Texas ecosystems. The program offers advanced training opportunities, educational conferences, and community outreach events across multiple counties, enabling volunteers to share their knowledge and promote environmentally responsible gardening practices. Participants gain access to specialized resources on Earth-Kind® roses, Texas Superstar plants, pollinators, fruit and vegetable cultivation, and integrated pest management, making the program a vital resource for native plant conservation and ecological gardening education throughout Texas.
