Wild Ones Long Island Chapter

Long Island, NY

Native Plant Society

About

Wild Ones New York Metro Region is a grassroots chapter of the national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting native plant landscaping and sustainable ecological practices across Nassau, Suffolk, and New York City's boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. The organization serves as the recognized voice for native plants in the region, working to increase the use of native wildflowers, shrubs, trees, and grasses that sustain local wildlife and thrive in the regional environment. Through education, community outreach, and hands-on restoration projects—ranging from proposed tree and plant ordinances for local municipalities to restoration work at Brooklyn's Bush Terminal and school-based initiatives—Wild Ones empowers residents to create living landscapes that support biodiversity. Members and volunteers are invited to participate in plant sales, educational events, and community engagement opportunities that promote the ecological and aesthetic benefits of native plant gardening.
