About

The Wildflower Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is a community-driven organization dedicated to the appreciation and study of native plants throughout the province. Based in St. John's, the society combines educational programming with hands-on field experiences to deepen members' understanding of Newfoundland and Labrador's unique flora. The organization operates a fall-winter program featuring expert guest speakers on topics ranging from regional wildflowers to international botanical exploration, delivered via Zoom from October through May. During spring and summer months, members participate in guided field walks and trips to natural areas including wetlands, coastal regions, and forest habitats. The society publishes The Sarracenia, a peer-reviewed journal sharing botanical research and plant information relevant to the province. With affordable annual memberships starting at just $10 for individuals, the Wildflower Society welcomes both experienced botanists and curious nature enthusiasts to join in celebrating and preserving Newfoundland and Labrador's native plant heritage.
