Ordered several trees here a year ago. Scarlet oak was fatally root bound, black oak and white pine both had co-dominant leaders, and the sweet bay magnolia was as scraggly as you'll ever see. The only plant that arrived in reasonably good condition was a highbush blueberry. None of the trees should have been sold in that condition. Never again.
They have incredible prices and quality. I have ordered almost all my native grasses, shrubs and ferns from here. Since I order online, I trust them to ship me healthy plants, and they deliver.
We stopped by after I did extensive research online, at Long Island Natives + their partner for retail/shipping, Bumbee. Matt could not have been more helpful (!), though I don't recommend stopping by like that - not only because spring is their busy season, but also because they aren't set up to take retail walk-ins. (though I tried to keep it brief - which is difficult because they have 100 acres of incredible plants/trees/bushes!) I love supporting our wildlife with natives and am even happier to support local businesses, esp when customer service is so good. I am getting ready to place an order, now that a few key questions have been answered (about availability & just how deer resistant certain varieties might be). Hilary at the front desk was also kind & helpful. Even my husband, who hates shopping of any kind, seemed to enjoy the visit - which is perhaps the best compliment I can give ;) at least, until the order arrives.
I have planted dozens of trees, shrubs and flowers from Long Island Natives. Everything is thriving. I have learned a lot about the less common found plants at garden centers, like Atlantic white cedar, common milkweed and swamp rose mallow.
Honestly these are ten gallon pots!!! I asked that get delivered in the back of my property. I have over one acre of land. I wrote this in the order and even called and specifically told this to the woman at the company. Yet they got delivered to the front AGAIN. I paid almost 2k and a $150 for delivery. I cannot buy from you again. This is the second large order and second time this occurred.
