Went during fall festival; nice to see so many people that care about nature!
This is a great place to see many types of native plants that attract and support a wide variety of beneficial pollinators. I wish it was a little larger, but it’s done very well. Today we need more places like this, more than ever! Photos taken 6/22/19
If you need a quiet place with scenery, this is it! It's located near downtown Olathe. I will say that trains do move through on occasion. Parking is best on Blake Street or Cedar Street. No restrooms are available. It is somewhat handicapped accessible. The sidewalk is limited in length at this location.
This is a cute little pocket sized park with small plantings of native prairie plants and educational signage throughout. We attended a monarch tagging event hosted by K-state and had a great time geeking out about prairie pollinators and ecosystem. I did not notice bathrooms so parents of young children should plan accordingly.
This is an Olathe Hidden gem!! Need to find something to do with your kids or just take a break and relax? Walking these gardens as the seasons change is a great experience. If your interested in planting native plants you can check out which plants you like and find the signs labeling what’s what. Slowing down to find all the different types of insects attracted by all these native plants adds to the experience. This place is a beautiful reminder of what healthy biodiversity looks and feels like.
