Recently, I heard Dr. Doug Tallamy speak about how important native plants are to sustaining our ecosystem’s wildlife. Since then, I have been trying to landscape with straight species native plants, and they are hard to find. This nursery is a gem! I just purchased 14 beautiful trees and shrubs, all at very reasonable prices. I will be back for more!
First off, their website lists all trees by what is native to your county, Latin name, and wetland status. This was incredibly helpful for determining what I should plant in some spots I wanted to restore at work. Not only do they sell native trees and shrubs, but they're also about to launch their herbaceous plant website! I was able to check out tons of native perennials in the greenhouse, ranging from classics like bergamot and purple coneflower, all the way to wild lupine! (Yes, we do have native lupines in Ohio!) They were able to give me an awesome deal with wholesale pricing because I was purchasing on behalf of the park I work for, and were able to easily honor my organization's tax-exempt status! Owner was friendly, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable. Purchasing native plants from somebody who understands the ecology and natural history of what he's selling is a breath of fresh air. Can't wait to go back!
I really like the passion the owner puts into his work and the trees are a very high quality. It seems that he does get a bit overrun in the springtime so if you go you may want to call ahead to see what is in stock. This place reminds me of several tree farms I've visited over the years so if it has recently rained you may want to wear old shoes. I generally do not give 5 stars but it is worth the adventure to go see the place and pick out a tree which is 50% cheaper than the local retail stores, and did I mention the owner is very passionate.

What a hidden gem! Superb selection of trees and shrubs and great pricing. Mr. Kapraly was very knowledgeable, friendly, and he must have thanked us 4 or 5 times for our purchase and it was only $100. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I will be back for more trees and will most likely buy some shrubs, too. I cannot recommend this business enough!
