Sweet Bay Nursery is tucked away on Erie Rd between 69th St and Fort Hamer Rd. They sell Florida Native plants. There are a wide variety of shrubs and palm trees to choose from. The employee that I spoke with advised me that I could email or call her in advance to make sure that the Royal Palm tree that I was interested in would be coming in with their monthly shipment.
Sweet Bay is our go to nursery. We converted our front yard into a native garden thanks in large part to the plants and expertise of Sweet Bay. As an example of how Sweet Bay operates we bought a gumbo limbo tree from them about a year ago. We struggled with it early on and Sweet Bay helped us step by step and now it's nearly doubled in size. Comparatively, Sweet Bay has the best service, selection, and expertise in the area.
Will return. All native. All green. Many butterflies. I’ve no green thumb. My only time ‘gardening’ is during my supermarket trips, when I see a pretty orchid (have you seen an ugly orchid or flowers?!?) I buy it or them, start of my many gardening -:) journeys. This place is kind of hidden, lovely. They’ve many plants that you won’t find elsewhere. No a/c (pls no hate here …) One bathroom.
Found this place courtesy of the Wild Floridian YouTube channel. Totally worth the drive from St Pete! Most gallon plants are $6-8, and the Florida Native Plant Society member discount is really nice. 🌱 I'm still new to gardening in general but am having some great success thanks to Sweet Bay's supply! I even have my first caterpillar today. 💯% worth it! Thanks for the help!
Sweet Bay Nursery is a great place to go for Florida native plants, advise and guidance, even classes on gardening. The staff are extremely helpful and their dedication and efforts to provide exceptional customer service are consistent across the team. This weekend was the Florida Native Plant Society event which looked to be a great success while I was there. Great place to shop for plants and become a better Florida gardener.
