About

The Audubon Center for Native Plants, operated by the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania, is a leading native plant conservation and education facility dedicated to preserving the rich botanical heritage of the Appalachian plateau. Since its founding in 2000, the center has propagated over 200 species of native Pennsylvania plants, making them available to restoration projects, schools, municipal gardens, and homeowners throughout the region. The center educates the community about the environmental and practical benefits of native plants—including their low-maintenance requirements, ability to support local wildlife, and adaptation to diverse growing conditions. Through active volunteer engagement, habitat garden consultations, educational workshops, and partnerships with conservation organizations, the Audubon Center for Native Plants demonstrates how native plant gardening creates meaningful environmental impact while beautifying landscapes.
