About

The Montana Native Plant Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, conserving, and studying Montana's native plants and plant communities. Founded in 1987, MNPS represents over 900 members committed to native plant education, conservation, and habitat restoration across Montana. Through its comprehensive programs including citizen botany initiatives, summer field trips, online educational presentations, and academic scholarships, the organization empowers both amateur botanists and professionals to deepen their knowledge of Montana's diverse flora. The society operates multiple chapters statewide, maintains native plant gardens, provides resources for identifying and purchasing native plants and seeds, and addresses critical conservation issues facing Montana's ecosystems. By joining MNPS, members become part of a thriving community working to protect Montana's natural botanical heritage while supporting native plants that sustain local wildlife.
