Native Plant Society

About

The Tennessee Native Plant Society is dedicated to conserving and celebrating native plant communities and their habitats through education. Founded in 1977, the organization serves wildflower enthusiasts and botanists across Tennessee, from the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi River floodplains. TNPS works to protect Tennessee's botanically diverse native plant heritage while fostering public education about the state's rare and endangered flora. The society offers field trips to various locations throughout Tennessee, monthly online seminars featuring expert speakers, an annual conference with presentations and guided field trips, and student scholarships for regional plant conferences. Members benefit from a quarterly newsletter highlighting TNPS activities and rare Tennessee plants requiring protection. The organization also publishes identification guides and resources to support native plant preservation and education for future generations.
