Master Gardener Program

About

The Utah State University Extension Master Gardener Program develops a network of trained volunteer horticulturists dedicated to providing Utah communities with research-based gardening education and technical assistance. Through comprehensive college-level training in botany, soil science, integrated pest management, landscape design, and plant care, Master Gardeners acquire the expertise needed to support sustainable home gardening practices across the state. Participants commit to volunteering a minimum of 40 hours in their communities, offering services through plant diagnostic clinics, educational demonstrations, public speaking, and outreach at local markets and festivals. By combining university-backed horticultural knowledge with community engagement, the program empowers Utah residents to make informed decisions about their gardens while building a statewide network of gardening experts.
