Master Gardener Program

About

The Utah State University Extension Master Gardener Program develops a network of trained volunteer horticulturists dedicated to providing Utah communities with research-based gardening education and technical assistance. Through 13-14 weeks of college-level instruction by USU Extension Specialists, Master Gardeners gain expertise in plant science, soil management, pest management, and landscape design. Program participants commit to serving their local communities with a minimum of 40 volunteer hours, engaging in activities ranging from plant diagnostic clinics and public education at farmer's markets to managing demonstration gardens and leading community gardening projects. This volunteer-driven initiative strengthens horticultural knowledge across Utah while fostering sustainable gardening practices and community engagement.
