Master Gardener Program

About

The Washington State University Extension Master Gardener Program has been cultivating plants, people, and communities since 1973, serving as a vital resource for research-based gardening and environmental stewardship across Washington State. Operating through county-based volunteers who are neighbors and community members, the program provides science-based horticultural education to help residents confidently manage landscapes while addressing regional environmental challenges. With a focus on soil health, water conservation, integrated pest management, pollinator support, and climate resilience, Master Gardeners offer free fact sheets, publications, workshops, and personalized guidance to home gardeners throughout the state. The program welcomes new volunteers through annual training opportunities and invites gardening enthusiasts to participate in events, conferences, and community initiatives designed to build a more resilient and environmentally conscious Washington.
