About

Wild Ones Oak Openings Region Chapter is a native plant conservation organization serving Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan communities. Based in Toledo, the chapter empowers residents to create sustainable, ecologically-rich landscapes by replacing traditional ornamental gardens with native plants that support local wildlife and ecosystems. Through educational programs, native plant sales, landscape design resources, and hands-on stewardship events, Wild Ones helps gardeners understand the critical relationship between native plants and pollinators, cavity-nesting bees, and other wildlife. The organization also coordinates the annual Oak Openings Blue Week Native Plant Sale and Blue Week events, offers free native garden designs, and hosts workshops on topics ranging from seed collection to invasive species management. By partnering with regional conservation organizations, schools, and parks, Wild Ones Oak Openings Region drives meaningful habitat restoration and biodiversity throughout the Toledo area while inspiring residents to become stewards of their own natural landscapes.
