Watermark Woods Native Plants is a specialty native plant nursery located in Hamilton, Virginia, dedicated to making native plants readily available to the Northern Virginia community. Founded in 2014 by Julie and Chris Borneman, the nursery has grown to supply over 40,000 plants annually while maintaining a commitment to pesticide-free growing practices. With roots in conservation work through Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and Audubon at Home programs, Watermark Woods understands the ecological importance of native plants for supporting local wildlife and creating sustainable gardens. The nursery features a searchable plant database to assist customers with garden planning, offers educational resources, and maintains a child-friendly retail environment that combines horticultural expertise with community engagement.

Such a lovely place with an incredible selection of natives! I now have spring ephemeral on my yard - blood root, trout lily, and trillium to name just a few. The owner was so kind to my 8 year old daughter, showing her many unusual natives. I’m looking forward to many happy returns!
I’ve been buying plants here since 2022. Everything I’ve purchased is still thriving and has helped me support local wildlife. The swamp milkweed I bought in 2022 has hosted a ridiculous number of monarch caterpillars already. The staff are knowledgeable and the stock is well-organized. The hours can be hard to remember, so definitely check before driving out. They do have a nice catalog of their stock on their website which is incredibly helpful.
They have a lot of native plants others don't carry, it's a beautiful mostly outdoor area to buy plants, and easy to find plants with a great staff. Would highly recommend them. Update 7.8.2024...all of the plants we purchased from them are now thriving. These include Dutchman's Pipe, Common Milkweed and Joe Pye Weed.
We love this place!!! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the plants are healthy. Our favorites are the Starry Night Hibiscus. The blossoms are spectacular, they are the size of large dinner plates!
Great nursery. Great selection. I appreciate that they have straight species of natives rather than only cultivars/nativars like you find in most nurseries. They have some species you can't find anywhere else in northern Virginia. Prices are fair.
