Master Gardener Program

About

The Nevada Master Gardener Program, administered by the University of Nevada, Reno Extension, is a volunteer educator initiative dedicated to teaching research-based gardening practices suited to Nevada's unique climate and environment. Through a comprehensive training program, Master Gardeners gain expertise in plant science and horticultural knowledge, which they share with their communities via educational workshops, presentations, and direct assistance at county Extension offices. In 2024 alone, the program's 336 trained volunteers contributed over 31,700 hours of service, donated more than 13,000 pounds of produce, and reached nearly 9,000 individuals through live presentations. With operations across multiple Nevada counties, the program supports demonstration gardens, pollinator conservation, and sustainable gardening practices while empowering residents to become knowledgeable gardeners and community educators.
