Master Gardener Program

About

The Oregon State University Extension Master Gardener™ Program is a statewide volunteer initiative dedicated to educating Oregonians about the art and science of growing and caring for plants across 27 counties. Master Gardener volunteers serve as trusted community educators, providing science-based, sustainable gardening advice and expertise to help residents develop skills in plant cultivation and care. The program emphasizes reliable, relevant, and reachable support through phone consultations, email responses, and in-person engagement at community markets and demonstration gardens. By training thousands of volunteers in horticultural science and sustainable practices, the program empowers communities to improve their gardening knowledge, reduce pesticide use, and increase access to fresh produce through locally-adapted, environmentally responsible growing methods.
