Master Gardener Program

About

Since 1973, the Washington State University Extension Master Gardener Program has cultivated plants, people, and communities across Washington State. This volunteer-driven initiative empowers residents with science-based horticultural and environmental stewardship knowledge from WSU experts, enabling gardeners to confidently manage landscapes while addressing regional challenges including weather, soil conditions, pests, and diseases. The program operates through county-based chapters where trained Master Gardeners provide free educational resources, fact sheets, and community workshops. By combining practical gardening techniques with research-backed sustainability practices, the program helps Washington communities develop more resilient landscapes and stronger environmental connections. With a mission centered on providing accessible, expert-led education, the Master Gardener Program invites passionate gardeners and environmental stewards to join their network and make a lasting impact in their local communities.
