Master Gardener Program

About

The West Virginia Master Gardener Program, operated by West Virginia University Extension, empowers residents to become expert gardeners and environmental stewards through comprehensive horticultural training and community engagement. The program offers both Basic/Level 1 and Advanced/Level 2 training programs that equip participants with in-depth knowledge of horticulture, including native plant cultivation, soil science, pest management, and landscape design. Master Gardeners contribute to their communities through beautification projects at schools, parks, and public institutions while advancing their personal gardening skills and quality of life. With an emphasis on West Virginia native plants and sustainable gardening practices, the program creates a network of knowledgeable volunteers who help residents understand horticultural and environmental issues while fostering community connections around shared gardening passion.
