Master Gardener Program

About

The Maryland Master Gardener Program, operated by University of Maryland Extension, trains volunteer horticultural educators to promote safe, effective, and sustainable gardening practices throughout Maryland. With county-based programs across the state and Baltimore City, the organization educates residents on building healthy gardens, landscapes, and communities through science-based horticulture and integrated pest management. Master Gardeners provide direct community support through plant clinics, demonstration gardens, educational events, and expert consultation, while also offering specialized programs like Bay-Wise Certification for water quality protection in the Chesapeake Bay watershed and native garden initiatives at demonstration sites.
